Fire Prevention Week: Small Devices Can Make a Lifesaving Difference

For people who use oxygen at home, fire safety is especially important. That’s why Medicap Home Medical is proud to support our community by helping make home oxygen use safer.

Earlier this year, our team donated 50+ Firesafe firebreaks to the Des Moines Fire Department to help protect local home oxygen users. These small safety devices connect to oxygen tubing and are designed to stop the flow of oxygen if the tubing catches fire, helping prevent flames from traveling toward the oxygen source.

This Fire Prevention Week, we’re proud to partner with our local first responders to help keep our patients and community safer. ❤️🔥

Ever wake up and find water in your CPAP mask or tubing?

That's called CPAP rainout. It happens when the warm, humid air from your CPAP machine meets cooler air in your tubing, causing moisture to collect as water droplets. The result? Gurgling sounds, water in your mask, and interrupted sleep.

A few simple adjustments may help reduce rainout:

✔ Use heated tubing
✔ Adjust your humidifier settings
✔ Keep your CPAP machine lower than your head while you sleep
✔ Add a hose cover for insulation
✔ Maintain a comfortable bedroom temperature
