Well, f**k.
Waking up to the news about Gloria Steinem after Dolly and Tim last week…these losses all get my heart.
Gloria was not a perfect feminist. No feminist icon is (and we shouldn’t want them to be!) Feminism has been through some changes and become more intersectional, and we learn from the people left out of that movement.
BUT, she did spend decades telling women that they mattered. She encouraged them to use their voices, to be angry, and fought hard for us to have autonomy over our own bodies.
She helped make feminism impossible to ignore. And a lot of us are still here, still questioning, still angry, and still fighting like hell for each other and their rights.
