How many people do you know?
Possibly more than you realize. If you are an animist you will understand immediately what I am talking about, but for those newer to the pagan path there are often questions about the importance of connecting with nature, and what nature really is.
Nature is full of persons that are visible and invisible, and we walk among them, dwell among them, are one with them.
Witches, druids, shamans, and other spiritual humans see and recognize the persons around us who do not look or behave as we do, and we connect with them both for our own benefit and theirs, but also for those in our communities who do not have the same ability to connect or understand the language used by the other folk of this world. We become go-betweens.
Every being in this universe is a world unto themselves. We dwell in many realms, we walk through them waking and sleeping. We interact with folk like us and otherkind. We find commonalities at times, and other tines we propitiate for the crimes we commit against each other. That is the place of the witch and the shaman, to heal, to guide, to question, and to make peace. We face the ugly at times, but we are always walking in beauty.
When you need help in spiritual matters, be discerning. Find those who are real, who think deeply, who walk in beauty, who touch Nature frequently. Those who understand they are one of natures own folk. They are the ones with the understanding to heal. They have taken wounds, and sometimes inflicted wounds, but we cannot understand how to clean and stitch a wound without practice. We face the hurt first so that we have the skill to help the hurting. We stand in the veil and see beyond so we can guide the dying through. And through it all, we still are not oblivious to the beauty of life that we walk in. Even as the pain of the world draws our energy out, the beauty in this world replenishes us. A healer is one who is there to help you ground, align, and find the beauty you walk in so that you can begin your own healing journey.
Before any energy session, test the sincerity and understanding of the healer you are choosing. Don't be fooled by props, chants, makeup, and soothing words, or social media likes. Look for a healer who has raw truth in their mouth, the one who will dig out your pain, help you process it, and move beyond it, with the help of the spirits of the world around, and the ancestors. If anything seems off about the practitioner, walk away. Ask the spirits to send you a healer.
Sometimes healers come in unexpected guises. I know two non-human shamans who have connections to me whose presences I find great peace in. I have known others. The spirits have sent many such teachers and healers to me over the years to work with my body, mind, and soul. They have ranged from stones, "simple herbs," to animals, to humans, to gods. Sometimes whole places minister to the body and mind in ways that defy scientific explanation.
These healers help us to find wholeness, to mend the breaks and tears in our hearts, and call our souls home again.
Honor the spirits who truly help you, in whatever form they come in, and be ready to pay the debt of healing forward as well as back.
