Our Story
Michael's Gems and Glass was established in 1990 as the first retail outlet of rocks and minerals on the Outer Banks of NC. Everyone was skeptical about the performance of a rock store at the beach, but more than 20 years and many stores later, Michael’s is a favorite destination for vacationers and locals alike. Children love digging through our treasure barrels and looking for special gems or making their own jewelry that will remind them of their fun on the beach! We hope to bring some of that fun to you through our website, or, if you’ve visited us on vacation, to make our products accessible year-round. If you saw something in-store on vacation but don’t see it online, email or call us and we’ll be happy to find and ship it to you.
