This Year our annual walk will not only be to bless the site of the 2nd largest Native American burial ground in Texas, but we will also walk in honor of Larry Running Turtle Salazar who passed away March 16, 2025.
January 17th is fast approaching. To stay informed about the walk, please follow for updates and information. Feel free to seek clarification on any aspects.
The walk measures approximately 1.4 miles. Wear comfortable shoes and attire. We will gather initially at the Ishka monument within the Hans and Pat Suter park closest to the freeway at 10am for Two marriage ceremonies that will be held at the Medicine Wheel, and all are invited to observe respectfully. If you are participating, volunteering, or donating time or resources, please arrive early for direction.
If you are only participating in the walk: after the weddings, we will start to gather after 11 am at the beginning of the walk at Williams and Ennis joslin.We recommend parking in the adjacent lot or surrounding neighborhood near the end of the walk, noting that parking in grassy areas may result in ticketing. All participants will need transportation to the starting point at Ennis Joslin and Williams.
Alternatively, park at Williams and Ennis Joslin, ensuring a ride back to your vehicle. Instructions, a speech, and participant smudging will precede the walk. The walk will commence at 1pm from Ennis Joslin and Williams, proceeding down Ennis Joslin, splitting at Sandpiper Street, and reuniting at the other end and we will walk to the park and once there, We will walk clockwise at the Medicine Wheel and conclude with a prayer, followed by additional activities.
