Available - Singapore-based micro brand. Gruppo Gamma Vanguard MkIII in bronze. Nothing micro about the 44mm (48 w/crown) case on this beast. Screw down crown, rotating bezel and sapphire crystal. Excellent lume. Underneath, a Miyota 905S 24 jewel automatic. In clean running order with new leather strap and original buckle.

What started as a loose case screw hunch turned out to be a broken off center wheel pivot. This little ball pendant watch requires an unusually long cannon pinion and hour wheel to run the hands near the surface of the ball. It's no surprise that somewhere along the line this was flexed and broken. During the overhaul, the centerwheel pivot was drilled out and a new one fitted and turned to accept the cannon pinion. The shoulder was slightly upsized to correct the plate wear. Swipe for details. I need to get better about the machining pics.

Attention Gruen fans - Rare 1920 Oxford pocket watch available. This Verithin 14kt white gold filled model features a Precision V4 17 jewel movement. A traditional Swiss layout, it's fine details include a whip-spring regulator, screw set center wheel chaton, gold wheel train, removable hairspring stud, and a very well executed sliding click. Off the bench: c.1970's Gruen Cal. 770 (Valjoux 7734) 17 jewel manual date chronograph. The hour, minute and chrono hands were pretty contorted due to a missing crystal and poor handling (I'm bad at taking before pictures). The subdial hands were chipped of almost all paint. After overhauling the movement, attention moved to cosmetic. Ca9reful straightening of the hands, some lume and off-white enamel under a fresh crystal and lightly re-finished case have brought this great looking chunk of '70's back.

Big-eye Friday - 1950's Zenith manual chronograph for your consideration. Clean layout in a comfortable 36mm stainless case. Beneath the casual yet stylish dial beats an Excelsior Park EP42 17 jewel movement. Known for thier high-quality movments, many were supplied to Zenith, Gallet and Girard-Perregaux. Luck will be on your side with this '60's Juvenia Mystere. Made in several shapes; oval, diamond and circle, the square case is the scarcer sibling. The 17 jewel cal. 765 (Eta 2510) is visible through the acrylic case back as well. If you haven't familariazed yourself with Juvenia, they have a rich history of pushing the boundaries of design. From tiny desk clocks, super thin Ditisheim pocket watches, to heavy hitters like the Sextant and Arithmo - featuring a slide rule bezel!
