I grew up in Binghamton in the 60's and 70's, then attended SUNY Cortland where I earned my Bachelor's and Masters' degrees in Elementary Education and Math Education. I substitute taught in the Cortland City School District until I got my permanent job a
t Randall Elementary School. I taught sixth grade there from my first day of teaching to my last. Thirty of the best years of my life. I have been blessed with three beautiful grown daughters and four amazing grandchildren. (Aren't ALL grandchildren amazing???!!!)
The short answer to "Who are you?" is that my new endeavor is located in the previous Virgil Elementary School building, which is now the Virgil Community Living Center. The fun part is that I taught here, back in the day, before I got my permanent job for the District. My shop is in room 2. My goal is to be part of the circular economy in central New York when it comes to fabric and sewing and quilting supplies. People who have these items may donate them anytime I am open and I will package them for sale at thrift store prices. I want people who would like to sew and quilt be able to purchase the supplies necessary to make that happen without spending too much money. I hope new sewists, especially, will enjoy the "new to you" fabric. In the future, I will have a very limited amount of fabric on bolts as well. I also teach sewing and quilting classes, mostly held on Saturday afternoons. I would like to teach some classes in the early evenings as well, but will wait until the sun doesn't go down before dinner time! I have a special love for teaching parents and grandparents with their favorite 6 - 17 year olds, but will have classes for all levels and ages. My well equipped space has cutting tables, ironing boards, a design wall, and space for 10 people to work together comfortably. You can come for Open Sew on any day I am open for only $5.00!
