Here is what I actually believe about jewelry. And I haven’t said it loudly enough yet.

Most women get dressed and then grab whatever jewelry is on the nightstand.

I do it the other way around.

I choose the jewelry first. Then I build my outfit around it. Because for me, the jewelry is not the finishing touch. It’s the starting point.

I think that distinction matters more than most brands are willing to say out loud.
The right piece is not an accessory. It’s the anchor of the entire look, and it deserves to be chosen with the same intention as everything else you put on your body.

And the pieces that matter most are not the ones that match your outfit.

They are the ones that match your moment.

A woman buying jewelry after a life transition, a loss, a reinvention, a milestone she finally let herself celebrate, she is not shopping. She is marking something.

He wasn’t shopping for something pretty.

He was shopping for something that could carry the weight of a moment.

Last Saturday at the Artisan Bazaar at Crystal Cove, a gentleman stopped at my table.

His friend was turning 50. She was navigating health challenges. And he wanted to find something that felt worthy of that moment, not just a gift, but a gesture.

I told him about the Kingman Turquoise stones I hand-selected in Arizona. That particular blue, the kind that shifts from deep sky to still water depending on the light, is what drew him in. He chose a necklace and a pair of earrings.

When he left, he said finding my jewelry made his day.

It made mine too.

This is why I make jewelry the way I do.

Not for the trend cycle.

Not for the occasion that needs a price tag attached.

For the moments that deserve to be marked with something real, something handcrafted, something chosen with intention.

Some stones are meant to be found. Others are meant to wait.

This Picture Jasper had been waiting for years.

A fellow artist from the Laguna Art-A-Fair brought me this cabochon. She had treasured it, saved it, held onto it until the right person came along. That person turned out to be her niece, and she asked me to transform it into something she could give as a birthday gift.

What makes this stone so particular is its desert landscape quality. Layers of cream, warm brown, and deep charcoal move across the surface like a scene painted by the earth itself.

It had a life before it became jewelry. That matters to me.

When someone hands me a stone like this, I’m not just making a necklace. I’m continuing a story that was already in motion. The stone was cherished. The gift was chosen with intention. The piece will be worn by someone who will know how much thought went into it.

That’s the kind of work I love most.

A stone with a story. A gift made with love. A necklace that will carry both forward. 💕
