After the GOAT proved itself in big, technical terrain, Sam Bawden’s mind immediately went to the next question:
What would the ultimate powder splitboard feel like?
The GOAT was built to charge steep lines with confidence, but deep storm days called for something different—more float, a surfier feel, and effortless maneuverability in the deepest snow.

That pursuit led to the very first POWGODA splitboard, initially named the SKIFF. Countless powder days in the Wasatch became the testing ground, where subtle refinements in shape, rocker profile, taper, and flex gradually transformed an idea into one of Cardiff’s most classic designs.

Every board has been born from time in the mountains. The POWGODA was no exception.

What keeps inspired when the snow melts? From backpacking with his family to editing films that keep the stoke alive, Jason shares how summer shapes the way he approaches every winter.

“I love to stretch out the snowboard adventures as far into spring as possible-when I’m feeling motivated. haha.

When summertime comes into full swing, I do enjoy a few wild trips with the guys, but I put a major focus on getting my family out on these little adventures. Whether day trips or backpacking, it’s super fun for me to share with them these special places I’ve visited in the winter months or explore new places together. But in a way that is much more approachable and enjoyable for them. It challenges them and helps make them more confident in the mountains. It also gives them a glimpse into how I approach the backcountry, ideally putting them more at ease when I’m out there solo come winter.

The summer flow these last couple years now has involved lots of editing time and all the post-production work that goes into diy filmmaking. It’s a really rewarding way to build community and keep snowboarding fresh on the brain during the off-season. The process has a way of sparking so many more exciting ideas for the winter to come and just perpetually feeds the flame.” -Jason Robinson

Ten years ago, one question changed everything. 💭

What if a splitboard could ride without compromise?

That question sparked a decade of innovation, countless prototypes, and the creation of Cardiff Snowcraft.

As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we’re looking back at where it all began—and the people, mountains, and relentless pursuit that brought us here.
