Rural Africa Crafts We work directly with rural artisans in a historical town called Bolgatanga (Bolga for short) to pro Agricultural income is as unreliable as the rainfall.

Bolgatanga is home to the rural artisans of women who carefully had craft each basket. Each basket is 100% handmade from a tropical grass called “vete vera”. The local people call it“kinkahi”.Bolga is a savanna region with extremely harsh weather. The consquence of this is extreme poverty levels. Fortunately for these women, the skill of basket weaving has been passed from generation to generation

. This skill provides the primary source of income for these widows and single mothers. Rural Africa Crafts, founded by Patience Abakuri, is certified Fair Trade. Our goal is to aid these women in the sale of their beautiful products. You are not just purchasing a basket. You are putting a meal in the bowl of a child. You are sending a young girl to school. You are giving these women a sense of dignity and pride that is immeasurable. You are putting hope in the future children of Bolga. When you help the mother you help the child. The weavers are grateful for your support and the children say Thank You.
