When the unexpected happens, communities help each other.

Neighbors help neighbors. Strangers become friends. People share what they have, lend a hand, and remind us that no one has to rebuild alone.

Disasters may change a community, but they can’t erase its strength. Learn more about EDS at our website.

SCAM ALERT: ON THIS FIRST DAY OF FALL, DON'T FALL FOR IT!!

Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Assistance Forms

We want to remind our community to remain vigilant. If you receive an assistance application or online form claiming to be connected to The Salvation Army, please take a moment to verify it before providing any information.
Do not:
+. Complete or submit a suspicious form.
+. Share or promote an unverified link.
+. Provide personal, banking, or financial information.
+. Assume a form is legitimate simply because it uses The Salvation Army name or shield.
+. Before applying for assistance online:

Please contact your local Salvation Army to confirm whether a link or application is legitimate.

Please share this message with your friends, family, neighbors, and community members. The more people who know what to look for, the better we can protect our community.

The Salvation Army name and shield represent trust. Unfortunately, scammers may try to exploit that trust. A little extra vigilance can help protect both the people we serve and the reputation of The Salvation Army.

When in doubt, verify before you click, complete a form, or share your information.

In 2025, The Salvation Army of Covington provided 3,225 toys to children from families in need at Christmas. We are just 94 days away from Christmas, but we support those in need throughout the year because need knows no season. With our thrift store currently being repaired and renovated due to flooding, we can't wait for those Red Kettles to come out so we can raise the funds needed to do even more for those in our community. Please consider supporting us with an online donation. https://give.salvationarmymarylandvirginiawestvirginiawashingtondc.org/give/302282 #!/donation/checkout

Our Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) program provides food, water, and supplies to first responders. We also help survivors find clothing, meals, and connect them to long-term resources. EDS is here to support communities as they recover.

Even when everything changes suddenly, hope is still possible. Learn more about EDS at our website!

On September 11, we honor those we lost. We think of those who served, those who gave so much, and those who offered comfort and care in the days after.

Today, we take a moment to remember.
