In May 2014, I graduated from Lenoir College in North Carolina with a degree in gunsmithing. For years gunsmithing was a hobby of mine until I had an opportunity to get a degree in it. I have experience in gun cleaning, various types of refinishing, general repair, custom modifications, trigger jobs, and custom rifle builds. Prior to getting my gunsmithing degree, I was a marine biologist for seve

n years at Wildlife and Fisheries. As a Wildlife and Fisheries employee, I became a certified Hunter Ed Instructor and an Aquatic Ed Instructor. Leupold gunmakers blanks machined to fit the barrel rib, drilled & countersunk for 8-40 screws. Barrel shroud/rib drilled & tapped. The customer can change barrels while leaving the scope mounted to this shroud.

This action was drilled for a 2 piece mount about 65 or so years ago. The mounts are long gone and currently available mounts do not match the rear hole spacing. The existing front holes were redrilled & tapped to accept 8-40 screws with a single new hole drilled & tapped in the rear. An undrilled EGW rail was drilled to match the spacing.

Eddystone P17
Removed a sidemount with 3/4" rings. Sourced a used Weaver rail designed for a sporterized P14/17. Drilled & tapped 2 front holes (with difficulty in very hard steel) to match the spacing of the mount and the existing rear hole. The rear of the mount didn't exactly match the altered contour of the action, so Marine-Tex epoxy was used for bedding the mount.

Polished then finished the barrel and some small parts by hot salt bluing.
Finished the cast reciever and forend iron with Cerakote Gloss Black.
The birch buttstock and walnut forend are not close in color so they were stripped, stained, and finished with stock oil to match in appearance.
The buttstock was fit with a Decelerator pad for a slightly longer LOP.
