Tucked away in the woods of beautiful Craftsbury Common, we offer floral design for all occasions-- our specialty is in romantic, lush, botanically inspired florals for events. We also offer local delivery of bouquets created from flowers and greens grown right here, and sell small bouquets at local stores in season. As a micro flower farm on 1/8 acre, we cram the growing space with beautiful, ele

gant, often fragrant blooms like sweet peas, Iceland poppies, foxgloves, cosmos, and whatever else will grow well here. Currently we are trialing tons of new varieties of annual and perennial flowers, plus a selection of hardy, scented roses, planning for larger plantings of perennials and roses in the future. Also on trial this year are over a dozen varieties of specialty dahlias. Our growing practices are clean, ecologically conscious, and sustainable, focusing on soil health first since that is where the healthiest, longest-lasting and most beautiful flowers begin. Although not certified organic, we use only organic methods in growing our flowers. We also love to support other local flower farmers-- so our arrangements will always be mostly made up of locally grown and foraged materials. Dahlia update! A few dahlias that started as cuttings and potted tubers have started to bloom— first one, ‘Rivermerle Rose Gold.’ I am super excited to see this one in person for the first time and yes it IS REALLY THIS COLOR!!! What an exceptional bloom! I am curious to see how the plant continues to do.

RM Dragon’s Blood is opening too, but got chewed by earwigs or something, so I’ll wait til a later flower on that one to take pictures. RM Peachy Pink and Darcy have buds. And one of my Lakeview Blush plants is blooming but its first bloom is lopsided (as they sometimes are in my mid-hayfield tarnished plant bug infested garden) so it’ll wait for its photo too. So exciting to have dahlias blooming already and tons of buds on the way!

This bouquet for Caroline was so much fun to design! All locally Vermont-grown except the amaranth which was an important stylistic element for her bouquet.

A great example of a medium-small, customized bouquet from my A La Carte Flowers offering. Designed in the colors requested, with a particular style in mind but not dominating the concept, with seasonal blooms.

For this wedding at The Notch House for Caroline Deakin and Steve Shiner , we did 3 DIY buckets overflowing with flowers for them to design their table flowers with, simple personal flowers (bouquets and boutonnieres) and a single arbor spray that came out magnificent! The groom picked up the DIY buckets on Thursday before the wedding and I delivered the rest on the wedding morning.

I love working like this and this couple was so great to collaborate with! Thank you!!

This is Iris germanica ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Girl’ from Hugh Stout Jr. and I have 2 new plants blooming— last year I began collecting bearded iris I think have potential for cut flowers since they are so stunning. This one definitely does! It’s beautiful, a perfect pale peach color, and the blooms last longer than the more old-fashioned bearded iris I have. My plan is to try several varieties in colors that will be useful for June wedding work and then multiply the best ones so I someday can offer these wholesale. For now, I think i’ll cut one of the two stems in my garden and try saving it in my cooler (which is on, keeping peonies and ranunculus) for this weekend’s bridal bouquet!

Same arrangement, different light. I love watching these coral peonies age… the color progression from brilliant coral pink to peach and blush to pale yellow before they disintegrate and become a scattering of compost, is wonderful to observe.

Also check out the Soft Salmon Saucer peony (second slide). It’s the last one to bloom— cut on a tiny short stem to preserve the full foliage on the plant which I just put in last fall. It’s best not to let new peonies bloom but I HAD to see what these beauties I went through a ton of work coordinating a huge group peony order for. I only wanted 12-15 given how I use peonies (generally can’t sell many wholesale here since everyone grows them; so I use them in my own event work mostly). So I did hours and hours of work to get a small number out of a giant group order from Farmer Bailey. Not sure I’ll do that again but I’m happy to have them!

The tender garden plants are all in ( except a couple watermelon starts which we’ll plant today). This coming week is mostly about preparing and harvesting for an a la carte wedding at Lareau Farm and having a friend here visiting for the first time in years. Then the next week I have another small à la carte wedding but I hope to get some of my potted perennials (baptisia) in the ground… and start moving one of my gardens in the yard. That one’s for another post!

A couple pretty personal florals from last weekend! My niece and nephew had their junior prom last week and I offered to create these for them. Maybe next year I’ll offer these to my whole community!

If you’re marrying in late spring, these flowers very well could be in your florals too— ranunculus, Spanish hyacinth, muscari, and snow-in-summer.

Well, another frosty night. I farm in the middle of a large open field that drains air from a valley full of ponds down into a stream. So it gets much colder there on clear nights than the forecast says, usually about 8 degrees I think.

I’ve kept most of my peonies covered for the cold nights since they were a couple inches high. I’m doing a casual experiment to see if covering them vs not covering has any effect on numbers of flower buds that survive to bloom. Only problem is, I didn’t see one 26 degree night coming and left them uncovered— so far I don’t think that changed things based on how the buds currently look, but we’ll see. I’d love to not have to cover peonies in the spring but past experience tells me it’s likely necessary to get good flower yields.

I’ve been gardening every chance I get. It’s not always easy when your first and most important job is Mama. It’s been a little crazy around here with managing seedlings (some getting awfully big not to be in the garden yet), seedling collection preorders, a popup appearance at our farmers market today, covering & uncovering plants in the garden, and prepping garden beds for the next big thing- planting the dahlias! I still have a bunch of weeding, compost application, and putting down paper mulch (currently it’s from ) since a mama-farmer most definitely does NOT have time to hoe or pull weeds. Whew.

It’s not been an easy spring for farming and gardening!

LAST CALL for DAHLIA TUBERS! I still have a good assortment of really beautiful and cutflower-functional varieties available and they’re all on sale. I’ll be taking all dahlia tuber listings down Sunday morning, May 17, for the season. So if you want tubers, grab them this week! (Link in bio).

I will ship out all orders that come in from now til when I remove the listings, on Monday the 18th so they’ll arrive sometime next week depending on where you are.

Soon it’ll be dahlia planting time here in my freezing cold pocket in northern VT!
