Gorgeous!!! Spalted poplar bowl. This one measures 14.5 x 2.5”. The grain lines are darkened due to spalting. The finish is food grade but not recommended for liquids.

This one was rough! Terry picked the chunk of oak up out of the scrap pile just to play with it. He had to cut through several layers of scrappy wood before the beauty started showing. The bowl ended up at 10” x 1.5” and the black lines of sparing stand out so well. In the right hands, trash becomes treasure. The tree was felled in a tornado a year ago. What a history!

This poplar bowl is finished and ready for a home. 7.5x1.5 with and inside depth of 3/4”. The first picture is under inside lighting and the next three are outside on a cloudy day.

Update: this has been identified as poplar.

This bowl was from a stack that we got from the former lathe owner. Terry is thinking it may be maple. This bowl needs one more coat of shine juice and then it will be ready for someone to give it a home.
