Martin HD-28 in with loose binding on the front and back. This is unfortunately a common problem on newer Martin models. The binding usually pulls loose at the waist due to glue failure. The repair is a tedious manual process which involves loosening the binding around the guitar and then regluing.

Ever wondered what a guitar would look like after being struck by lightning? Well, now you know.

A 1985 Gibson Les Paul Reissue was struck by lightning while stored in a room during a thunderstorm.

The incident, which occurred in 2013, involved a pine tree being split by lightning. The current then traveled through the house’s trim into the room where the guitar was kept. The lightning struck the guitar’s tuning pegs and traveled through the body, melting the strings and pickups and even blowing out the bridge saddles.

The strike clearly caused significant damage, melting parts of the hardware and electronics. The owner, named Hoyt, eventually listed the damaged guitar on eBay after deciding against repairing it, he decided to sell it as is.

Could the “lightning mojo” add to its value? Probably not.
