Monday maker update 🧶✨

Life hasn’t slowed down one bit — honestly, it’s sped up — so this week I’m giving myself grace and doing what I can without guilt. Between homeschool and market prep, things are moving slower… but slow is okay. Handmade takes time.

This gorgeous mustard cable beanie, made from the beautiful pattern, is officially in the shop and ready to ship. Every stitch is made with intention, and I’m so proud of how it turned out.

I just wanted to take a moment to give y’all a little encouragement today — not advice, just a reminder. You’re human. You don’t have to do it all at once. The work we do takes time, and that’s part of what makes it special.

Makers, I know you feel it too — juggling Christmas gifts, market inventory, shop updates, and online orders. It’s a lot. Give yourself grace.

And to everyone who supports small businesses… thank you. Most of us are one‑person teams doing our best, and your patience means the world. 💛

Halloween Ghostie Sneak Peek!
Here’s my newest market make — and honestly, my new favorite ghostie for Halloween! I made her using my Premier Yarns Yarns, and she turned out so soft, squishy, and absolutely precious.

The pattern is by .lovebug, and now I’m debating… should I make her a little friend to go with her?

I just had to share these precious little sack babies with you all! I saw them on my feed and immediately fell in love, so they’re officially part of my market prep for October.

Happy Meet the Maker Monday, friends! With so many new people here, I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself.

I’m Katherine — the fiber‑loving, yarn‑obsessed, homeschooling mama behind Southern Craft Gifts. I’m a self‑taught knitter and crocheter of over 20 years, born and raised right here in Eastern Arkansas. I run this little handmade business as a one‑woman show, doing my part to help support my family while creating pieces that bring warmth, comfort, and joy.

I value transparency and community deeply. I love sharing the real parts of this journey — the wins, the struggles, the late‑night stitches, and the moments that remind me why I started. I’m also on a health and weight‑loss journey, working to be the best version of myself for my husband, my girls, and me. My faith is growing, and I’m grateful for the people who help me walk closer with God.

I don’t have everything figured out — I’m what you might call a Type C mom. I love lists and schedules, but they’re more like gentle guidelines around here. My husband is my best friend (we celebrate 10 years this month!), and my daughters are my pride and joy.

Southern Craft Gifts began as a way to support my hobby, and over time it’s become a place where I get to help other makers by testing their beautiful patterns and contribute to my family in this chaotic world. My favorite things to make are beanies, baby blankets, small gifts, loveys, and plushies for little ones.

✨ WIP Wednesday ✨
Y’all loved the last shawl so much… I had to start another one. And look at her — these colors are melting together perfectly. I’m stitching this one up using Red Heart Unforgettable (discontinued) in the color Red Sea, and it’s giving the prettiest blend of blues, purples, and soft pinks.

The pattern is the Kaleidoscope Shawl, a free pattern on the Yarnspirations website, and it’s been such a relaxing, satisfying make.

I’m so excited to share that Southern Craft Gifts will be kicking off our 2026 market season at Fall at the Lake hosted by The Vendor Vibe!
