Join us in celebrating Fall Migration and World Migratory Bird Day with Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center and Environment for the Americas!

🌎 World Migratory Bird Day is a global campaign that highlights conservation efforts to safeguard migratory birds and their cross-border journeys. Celebrated during bird migration in May and October, this worldwide initiative unites people around a shared goal: protecting migratory birds and their habitats.

☕ One easy way to support migratory birds is to drink Bird Friendly® certified coffee. The Smithsonian Bird Friendly certification is the environmental gold standard for sustainable coffee production, conserving habitat for migratory birds better than any other certification.

🌳 Bird Friendly coffees are shade grown with diverse foliage and tree cover, certified organic, and grown without harmful pesticides.

💙 When you choose Bird Friendly, you help conserve critical habitat for birds and wildlife, protect biodiversity, and support farmers committed to sustainable farming.

TGIF ☕💙🍺
We started the day with a quick field trip to visit our friends at Pherm Brewing Company and help be part of the canning of this year's Mallow Out Coffee Marshmallow Stout. It's always fun to see behind the scenes, learn about all the steps and equipment, and see the similarities in our production processes. Big thanks to Henry and the Pherm Crew for welcoming us!

Mallow Out is a decadent stout brewed with our coffee (of course), soft waves of toasted marshmallow, and layers of chocolatey malt. Smooth, velvety, and just the right amount of sweet, it's like a campfire treat in a glass!

It's on tap, and sold in cans, starting today, along with a special draft only Peanut Butter Mallow Out. Slide over and start your weekend off right.

It might be Monday, but it's not too early to plan your weekend activities! Join us and The Friends of Patuxent for the Pollinator Festival this Saturday! Enjoy lots of fun & educational activities for the whole family. Plus, Bird Friendly Coffee! 🦋🐝☕💙

Please help our local vendors: Bring cash for your food and other purchases!"

Vendors appreciate this messaging -- it helps minimize the credit card fees they incur. Plus it helps FOP because of the known difficulties with "electronic" transactions at the VC (and of course, the more sales our vendors make, the more FOP will make, percentage-wise).
