What most might not know… this picture was this girl in my late husbands hat, smiling 14 years ago just 30 days after my husband left this earth. I smiled on this day only at this moment at the AFSP su***de prevention walk in DC as we all shared in one joke. But 14 years ago this girl, lost her smile, she lost her heart, she lost part of her soul, her trust and her future. But what she remembered was being a younger girl and hearing music that always filled her soul “I will get by, I will survive”. I was always a Grateful Dead lover. But this song ended up meaning more to me than anyone could ever imagine. This song became my mantra and my daily quote as I would wake up wondering how I could face each day. As the members have faded, the songs, the lyrics and the music have continued to keep me in a place that that girl once questioned if she even belonged. This one hits hard and there’s no way around that. Many have gone before him and while those members meant a lot Bobby kept things going with this song as well as many others in a space that I didn’t just need but that I Had to have to exist. Bobby, may the four winds blow you safely home. NFA
