Another beautiful olive wood blank straight from Bethlehem. Turned this for our children’s pastor who is following God’s calling to Florida. He will be missed, but we will see him again! We appreciate everything you have done.

On this Easter Sunday as our old senior pastor preaches his first service at a new church, I thought I’d share the pen I turned for him on his departure from our church and his new adventure. The pen is turned from olive wood straight from Bethlehem.

Let us remember that we serve a risen Lord and the tomb is empty!

If you made it out to the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony last night at Columbia’s Athenaeum, you had the chance to use this pen to sign the guest book! I turned this hybrid style pen blank and added it to a navigator style pen without knowing where it would end up. After a couple of days, I finally knew that it should be there for this truly special occasion. Hopefully, it added to the special memories of saving a piece of Maury County’s history!

Here’s the latest pen to come out of the shop...this Christmas colored pen I turned for a lady who shares her birthday with Jesus himself. The blank used to create this pen has been around several states before finally getting turned in my workshop. I really like the way the red and green shine with a slight gold accent on the mixture of browns in the wood.

On a side note, I’m looking at making a special pen for 500 followers on this page. Stay tuned as more information will come!

Finally managed to get back into the shop and use my Rikon mini lathe to turn this beautiful hybrid blue swirl and maple burl I received from Homestead Woodcraft (Gordon Pril). I used a black titanium, navigator style pen kit from Woodcraft Franklin. I also used a negative rack carbide tip for most of the turning. It managed to cut the resin like a hot knife in butter!

If you are interested in owning this pen, it’s going to be up for bid tomorrow afternoon at the Mike Hickman Benefit Supper and Auction. Please see Sandy as she was my contact if you have any questions.

Gatsby style pen with copper and sparkling blue pen blank. Turned this piece early last week but had to wait until after Father’s’ Day. The lighting on this piece doesn’t do it justice compared to the sun sparkles.

Here’s a couple of first from my workshop...

1. Used a dyed blank from David at Killer Pens

2. Used a cigar style platinum finished kit from Penn State Industries

This pen is not only a birthday present, it’s also a reminder of how she finished strong and was given the opportunity to ring the gong at her last treatment.

“...my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” Acts‬ ‭20:24‬ ‭

Since I’ve started turning pens and other items in my shop, I have heard some amazing stories, and I’m truly humbled that my work is used to help them remember.

Cigar-style pen from Penn State Industries using a custom created blank by Gordon Prill at Homestead Woodcraft using Alumilite resin. I created this pen for the guy who took a chance on a 21 year old right out of college. It’s a small gesture of thanks.

Here’s a “cat”tastic pen I made for my oldest son’s teacher. He picked the kit and the blank that I used. He said it reminded him of a calico cat. Thanks to Penn State Industries for the pen kit and Woodcraft Franklin for supplying the blank.
