Okay, but we had so much fun!

Thursday morning we received our biggest plant shipment of the year & there are lots of fun babies in the mix. Then on a whim, we called our “car guy,” who also happens to be our Vespa guy, & he brought out a cutie vintage MG! So naturally, we had to call our go-to photographer & document the whole thing. :)

Moral of the story is, we’ve got LOTS of fun new plants that are already finding new homes, so bring your butts out this weekend, say hi to the team & admire all the new plant babies. It’s a full house!

We’ll be sharing little peeks at what arrived throughout the weekend, but if you want to see the whole haul, you’re gonna have to pop into the shop!

And if you’re on our plant wish list, keep an eye on your texts! We’ll be reaching out first thing tomorrow morning if something you’ve been waiting for made it into this shipment.

Some weeks feel heavier than others.

The shop still gets opened and the plants still need cared for.

Tab is in all day, moving things around and keeping the door open if you need a calm place to exist for a little while.

Last night we welcomed local artist Kat Tines into Botanical Dwellings for a Pop-Up Gallery. Kat brought in a collection of original pieces for the show, and if you didn’t make it out last night, there is still plenty of opportunity this weekend.

You can come see the full installation Saturday from 10–6 and Sunday from 11–5.

We loved getting to see the shop feel a little different for the evening, watching people spend time with Kat’s work, and having her here to talk about the pieces herself.

Kat, thank you for bringing your work into BD and for being so easy and fun to do this with. We loved having you here.

Come check out the pieces in person, they’re worth the hype.

Tomorrow night we’re switching things up a little at BD and welcoming Kat Tines into the shop for a Pop-Up Gallery.

Curtains open on the collection at 5PM, and we’ll be staying open late (til 7PM) so you can wander through, see the pieces in person, meet the artist, and hang out with us for a bit.

We love any excuse to make the shop feel a little different for an evening, but getting to fill it with original art feels especially good.

There’s so much that we’re absolutely loving in the shop right now.
This table was overdue for a refresh, but we’d been waiting on this gorgeous shipment of lamps, pillows + all these new pieces for the kitchen and table. It’s finally here and we’re so pleased with how it all came together.
Tab is obsessing over the mugs, that chartreuse pitcher + the pillows. Mack already snagged the Koala Eco kitchen cleaner for home and is making a list of what’s next.
And if you need an excuse to come see it all, Kat Tine’s Pop Up Gallery is this Thursday evening from 5–7. Come shop the new things, see Kat’s work + hang with us for the evening. We can’t wait to see you.

Five years of Mack. 🥹

Five years ago, MacKenzie asked me out to coffee.

We hadn’t really interacted outside of her being a client at Botanical Dwellings and one quick plant order we’d professionally partnered on. She worked for a different shop at the time, and I hadn’t even had a real employee yet, but when I left the house that morning to meet her, I told Eric, “If she’s leaving her other job, I’m going to hire her.”

So I did.

Five years is a lot of life. We’ve been through weddings, motherhood, buying homes, loss, big changes in our personal lives, and about a million different versions of BD. We’ve moved the business, expanded it, torn it apart and put it back together, celebrated the wins, figured things out the hard way, and made it through some really hard seasons.

Somewhere in all of that, we grew up a lot too. We’ve both grown into ourselves, into our lives, and into being leaders. We’ve learned how to work together, how to disagree, how to trust each other, when to push and when to just let the other person figure it out. We’ve laughed until we’ve cried, we’ve just plain cried, and we’ve spent a whole lot of our lives together over the last five years.

MacKenzie, Mack, Macka Doodle, Mackinac, is patient, kind, energetic, honest, responsible, smart, talented, and an absolute rock for this business. She’s our resident plant specialist and terrarium fiend, lover of rhipsalis and mid-century modern interiors, and when she’s not here, she’s probably staring at trees in Shenandoah or sniffin’ around an antique mall counting vintage frog figurines.

BD wouldn’t be anywhere near what you see today without her being such a huge part of it.

Happy five years, Mack. I’m really glad you asked me to coffee. ❤️

If you see her roaming around BD today, tell her how awesome she is. She deserves it.
