The story behind the name: “Coyote Queen” Boutique
Hunting season, a few winters ago, I was out with the dawn getting to position. The shadows were purple and hues of gray, and the light was stark and bright. It had been a dry week and I wondered if I would get to pull the trigger at all. Suddenly I noticed a flitting creature running near me, watching me. She seemed to look
right at me, studying my mettle. I had not moved, but my breath betrayed me with a light fog in the cold crisp air. The coyote's ear twitched and in an instant it bounded away. I supposed I had passed the test, whatever it was. Delighted at my visitor I felt the day already wasn't a loss. In fact, everything felt a bit magical. I also shot my buck that day. Ever since, the coyote seems to pop as a portent of something good coming my way, a messenger or angel saying “press on, victory is at hand”. When I told my children the tale, they called me The Coyote Queen, and it stuck. What does it mean to be a Coyote Queen? It means you are brave, even fearless sometimes, cunning, a provider, mysterious, a dreamer, a survivor, a leader, independent, curious and so much more. If you are lucky enough to have the coyote appear to you, you might have another definition of Coyote Queen. What we know is they are small and mighty, just like our shop; maybe just like you! Things you might find at Coyote Queen Boutique: There is original art and local made fare such as paintings, jewelry, trays, desk lights, and pottery (coming soon). There are swords, incense, musical instruments, books written by local authors and beyond, dragon treasures and dragon like items. You may see a cuckoo clock, inspirational phrases on artifacts or books, wooden toys, or a hour glass. A garment within might have an old wooden ship on it, or magic mushroom, perhaps a band t-shirt, or one with Bigfoot or the Last Unicorn. We have gowns, top hats, graphic hoodies, and lots between. Some call these Fairy Core items. (Also spelled Fairycore, also known as Fairy Folk, is a whimsical and ethereal aesthetic inspired by fairy and elf mythology, nature, and fantasy. It evokes a dreamy, magical atmosphere through soft colors, flowing fabrics, floral motifs, and nature-based imagery.) Whatever the adjective, we want you to feel at least a little magical, a lot inspired, and excited about the treasure you found here at Coyote Queen Boutique. Some days there will be live art happening of many varieties ranging from face painting for the youth and kids or sports fans alike, jewelry or resin art, and/or painting and beyond. Custom art honoring loved ones or pets who have passed is available to be ordered. Artists have experience encapsulating hair in resin art or jewelry, or in ash mixed with acrylic paintings.
