The deadline to register to vote is October 5th. Today is a great day to check that off the list of really important things to do.

Cuyahoga Falls Library will be here in the store from 11 to 2 to assist with voter registration AND you can sign up for a library card while you're at it!

The store is open until 4 - if you miss the pop up, you can still grab a registration form on-the-go (these have been, and will be available until the deadline to register).

Regular monthly post coming on the 1st, but because the store has a scheduled closing for the same day, I'm launching the calendar now.

Scheduled closings for September are Tuesday the 1st, and Saturday the 19th during the Oktoberfest.

Regular hours are Tuesdays through Friday 11 to 6, Saturdays 9 to 4.

I get a lot of requests for a certain book in particular- the one with the red cover. It was either an absolute favorite with an unforgettable story but very forgettable title, or it's been on a read list for so long the only thing anyone can recall is the cover.

There's a sale at Shelf Life tomorrow (Wednesday, August 19th) dedicated to these books and hope of making that cosmic reader + book connection via the color that never evades the memory even when the title does.
All used books with red covers* are 15% off tomorrow!

What constitutes a red cover for this? While it is pretty subjective, I'd suggest looking for the easy obvious covers - which would have a background and/or imagery that makes up more than half of the color.
This promo cannot be combined with any other discounts, promotions or coupons, or trade credits. It cannot be used on books that are marked purchase only, Buy 2 Get 1, or publisher's overstocks.

I'm more grateful that I can express for the unexpected response to the call for an inventory boost last week.
Anytime there is an influx of drop offs, there is also an influx of books the store will put out for free. This system has worked for five years to keep books circulating, and to meet most budgets for all readers.
Right now, the free shelves are full at Shelf Life and there are more books waiting to go up. These are great for Little Free Library stewards, staff of care facilities or businesses that offer free books to guests/clients/patients, or anyone who is looking for the extended variety used books offer via out-of-print or special interest/focus that can't be found in new releases.
Stop in anytime during store hours to shop the free stands! Please bring your own bags for these!
The store is open today and tomorrow from 11 to 6, closed this Saturday, and returning for normal hours next week (check out the site for a monthly calendar and hours).

Shelf Life needs an inventory boost!

One of the biggest inventory obstacles the store has right now is parking. Second Saturday large drop offs have pended while we wait out construction and various closures for a beautifully updated downtown.
If you've been hanging on to books because it's been hard to get them into the store, let me know. We can arrange a weekday drop off that works with your time, and we can navigate parking together.
The store is in need of all subgenres of fiction and nonfiction in good, clean condition. If you're not sure what you have is something that store patrons are looking for, feel free to text pictures to 234-414-4145. You can also reach me this way to help set up an easy time to drop off if you need assistance bringing in.

August at Shelf Life will be busy just in its own end-of-summer way! I don't have any hour changes on the calendar this month except for one scheduled closing on Saturday, August 15th.
