Shampoo Ginger
I have a limited supply of Shampoo Ginger plants (ʻAwapuhi) available. This gorgeous tropical plant isn’t just beautiful—it’s also incredibly useful. Once mature, it produces cone-like flower heads filled with a natural, fragrant juice that can be squeezed out and used as a skin moisturizer, gentle hair shampoo, or added into various DIY body products.

Roselle Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is known by many names such as Red Sorrell and Florida Cranberry. This plant is valued for both its culinary uses and ornamental beauty. It attracts both bees and butterflies due to its bright and attractive flowers. Roselle is heat, humidity, poor soil, and wind tolerant. The plant is also deer and rabbit resistant. Annie’s Acres has a good selection of plants in two gallon pots ready to start blooming soon. Get them while they last! Only $10 each.

Life at Annie’s Acres is active. Our Mourning Dove has been training her two newly hatched babies to fly around the greenhouse and visiting various hanging pots. Our “pet” snake is still dining on eggs from the chicken yard almost daily BUT instead of digesting them in the greenhouse, she found the chicken waterer much more satisfying in the heat. I know many of my customers will prefer her to stay there, although she presents no harm to humans. Just a happy rat snake enjoying life on the farm!

Echinacea (cone flower) plants in the ground attract lots of butterflies and other pollinators. This is her second year and she is full of blooms, in full sun, and will continue to bloom until late fall. The yellow bloom is my first from the dwarf echinacea plants - instead of all purple flowers these produce white, red, yellow and other colors. Fun to see what pops out each plant! Annie’s Acres has lots of butterfly and full-sun loving plants for your gardens, all organically grown. Come see us!
