Even though the Gold Medal BBQ Building is over 13,000 sf, more room is always needed. In this case for the expanded market that we are building out. So running a blow out sale on Pit Barrel Cooker inventory for Family and Friends. Half price on everything including accessories.

My current adventure is progressing nicely. The first Pit & Parlor Cafe with an added Market. Being built in the Gold Medal BBQ building located in Dallas Center, IA which is located slightly northwest of Des Moines.

I am enjoying the now, but appreciate the past especially when reminders surface on Facebook. Like the video posted in comments showcasing Jamesport, MO. The location for my first KCBS Grand Championship (1997). Also won People's Choice with the raw Brisket being provided by the contest. All the trophies were handmade. Including the one for GC which I cherish and have on display at my home.

The idea of the PPC concept is to showcase the power of a BBQ Pit. At Jumpin' Jim's BBQ (1996) in Windsor Heights the only cooking equipment were two Ole Hickory Pits (SSE). Now the main focus will be on the commercial equipment that Gold Medal BBQ is a Dealer for. Cookshack, Ponca City, OK.

Now that the Parlor is built we can move on to the planned expansion of the market area. Basically that means sectoring off more of the warehouse and improving cosmetics. Reasonably easy to provide 1200 sf of structured market space.

Inspiration continues to be my version of something like the Price Rite Market & Deli KC (The Small Store). Introduced to it by Fast Eddy. Easy to see why it is so popular and busy. Especially when it comes to food. See link in comments for more info on Facebook.

I will take the opportunity to invite others to play in my sandbox. Especially BBQ Folks. We can discuss how and when. My Food Inspector indicated that others could work out of my licensed kitchen, but that they would need to be licensed too.

There has been interest in what is going on with the Gold Medal BBQ Building. Most easily explained as the property being moved in a more productive direction from a business standpoint. My wife and I have established a non-profit Charitable Corporation. This property needs to help us provide financially for the mission we have chosen to contribute to.

It is a big building. Over 13,000 sf. with a huge amount of concrete parking and a fenced in outdoor patio. For planning purposes I have divided it into sections. See floor plan attached.

New planning calls for the 4K sf space on the east end to continue to be shop space. The middle south 5K is allocated for the Dallas Center, IA BBQ Market. The west 4K is moving toward serving the new Pit & Parlor Cafe concept.

Two more projects on tap. Perry property will be worked on over the winter with the idea of launching a new plan for the property in the Spring. Biker's Haven Adel planning will continue over the winter with planned construction in the Spring. Current thoughts are to set it up as another Pit & Parlor Cafe.

As always I appreciate the support and assistance that I am getting from others. You know who you are. Couldn't do it without you!

Big shout out to Dale and Glenn for keeping the new concept moving along during my short stay in the hospital. They are currently working on the Parlor and I like the way it is going.

Time to change a long time vision into reality. The first step so appreciated. Inking the deal with The Olde Creamery, Garner, IA. A small Family owned business making high quality, small batch Ice Cream. To be scooped at the Parlor and can be enjoyed packaged at other places. Currently being offered scooped at the Sundae Social Club in Woodward near the High Trestle Trail. Will announce when the packaged products will be available at the PPC.

This concept will be developed, tested and improved in Dallas Center at the Gold Medal BBQ Building. But the in the Spring plan is to develop Biker's Haven Adel as a PPC location.

Plans also include being mobile. A good example being illustrated by the very popular, cute little Ice Cream Truck operated by The Olde Creamery.

BBQ and Ice Cream are obviously in my DNA. I have a handle on the BBQ and now is the time to up my scooped ice cream game.

Proud to announce that I have inked a deal with the The Olde Creamery. A small Family owned and operated craft ice cream company whose main facility is in Garner, IA. With other Company owned locations in Mason City and Rockwell, IA.

Brenda and Tony not only operate three scoop shops, but also have a Hot Dog business. And run mobile equipment including a Ice Cream Truck and a Mobile Food Unit (trailer). Hard workers and committed to providing quality products to their customers, both retail and wholesale.

Sunday was Funday for me. The personal Food of Love Tour took me in the direction of Rockwell, IA. Initially the mission was to check out Woody's in Rockwell. A hot dog joint now owned and a part of The Olde Creamery family of businesses (Garner). See link in comments.

The name alone attracted me. My nickname growing up was Woody. And when I had the furniture store in Valley Junction it was named Woody's based on that nickname.

Old gas station, not sure when it was built. Small town charm located in a nice part of the town. Seasonal and will be closing.

Several folks drove up and ordered while I was there and all were very complimentary of the food and ice cream that was being served there. The Scoopachino was highly recommended. Ice cream blended with coffee cold brew that comes from a local coffee house.

The ice cream produced and sold by The Olde Creamery is outstanding. It can be found at a newer scoop shop located in Woodward not far from the High Trestle Bike Trail. See link in comments.

I reached out to him to discuss the Acme program. He was very helpful and honest with the information that he provided.

There is no reason that the this program can't be a part of what my ongoing plans are. Obviously it is working for him and several other operators. Now time to do the same for me!
