The holiday season may still feel a little way off, but if you are a small business owner, there is no time better than NOW to prepare.

We are excited to introduce ATBB’s new Vice President of Programs, Jennifer Briggs, who will be leading our upcoming Holiday-Ready Workshop.

Jennifer brings a wealth of knowledge from navigating her own growth as an entrepreneur. Having run a branding agency, she understands what it takes to build a business, as well as the practical gaps and pitfalls that founders face.

This working session pairs her real-world experience with ATBB’s established curriculum to move business owners out of last-minute panic and into clear, steady action.

Together, we will work through:

• What to sell
• Who you are selling to
• Where you need to show up
• How to build a content plan that actually works for your life

We want our business community full of holiday success stories this year, because when you win, we are celebrating right alongside you.

Early bird pricing is available until midnight on Thursday, September 17.

Who are the humans powering operations at All Things Black and Beautiful and the Black Business Live Podcast? 👀

They’re the people behind the scenes: the ones you don’t always see when you’re scrolling through our social feeds.

They’re coordinating, creating, strategizing, problem-solving, and making things happen in the background so everything runs a little smoother.

Each one brings their own magic to keeping our brands moving forward.

The idea people.
The strategy people.
The creative people.
The “let’s make this happen” people.

And while we may differ in personality, talents, and interests, we share a common passion: creating spaces, conversations, and opportunities that help Black businesses and communities thrive.

We thought it was time to put some faces to those humans. 😏

And because business is serious enough, we decided to throw in a few fun facts along the way.

Which fun fact surprised you the most? 👀👇🏾

Behind every business is work. From late nights, to early mornings to ideas that follow you around like a shadow, then the risks and sacrifices.

This Labor Day, we're celebrating the people behind the work: Black entrepreneurs, creatives, innovators, leaders and changemakers who continue to build, create and move things forward.

Happy Labor Day from all of us at ATBB.

Today, take a moment to appreciate the work you've already done, then be sure to get some rest. You've earned it. 😉

Your $50 today could fuel your dream tomorrow.

In this BizBytes clip, Tolu breaks down the difference between seed money and paying yourself a salary.

Most of us either spend every dollar the business makes or hoard it out of fear. Tolu's take flips that script.

Your seed money is meant to do what seeds do - grow. You do that by "planting" it in the right savings or investment vehicle, so it works for you in the background while you focus on running the business.

The payoff? When a real opportunity shows up (a bigger client, new equipment, a chance to expand), you've got capital ready to go. No dipping into your salary. No scrambling to find funding at the last minute.

Know someone who needs to hear this too? Share with them and follow ATBB for more BizBytes.

Now that summer is officially in the books and Labor Day is next week, we've got work on our minds.

And speaking of work, the last couple of weeks in August reminded us just how powerful a legacy can be.

The world said goodbye to Dolly Parton, Tim Curry, Peter Cullen and a host of other legends whose talent, creativity and body of work helped define an era.

Their work touched millions of lives. And long after they're gone, their voices, characters, stories, music and contributions will continue to live on.

That's the thing about legacy. It isn't just about what you accomplish while you're here.

It's about what you build that continues to create impact long after you've moved on.

This is what we work towards at ATBB, and what we want to help Black and African business owners achieve.

Businesses that don't just survive, but create opportunities, build wealth, strengthen communities and leave something meaningful behind.

If you'd like to be part of that mission, there are four ways you can get involved:

- Partner with us
- Donate
- Volunteer your time and expertise
- Collaborate for impact

Visit blackandb.com/getinvolved to learn more.

And with the holiday season only a few months away, we've also got something interesting coming for our Black business owners. 👀

Keep watching this space so you don't miss it when we launch.

And don't forget to make the Black Business Live Podcast your companion on your business journey. It's a goldmine of lived experiences, insights and lessons that can help you better understand (and progress along) your own business journey.

Subscribe to on YouTube or listen wherever you stream your podcasts: https://bblivepodcast.transistor.fm/subscribe.

But don't keep the good stuff to yourself, share an episode with a friend, colleague or fellow entrepreneur who could use the insight.

Let's build businesses worth remembering and here's wishing you a wonderful Fall!

What does “pay yourself” actually mean to you?

For some business owners, it means finally taking some money home to enjoy.

For others, it means putting money back into the business so it can grow.

And for some, it means investing today for the future they’re working so hard to build.

But can all three be part of paying yourself? 👀

We want to know how YOU see it.

Vote in the poll, then tell us in the comments: What does paying yourself look like in your business?

And if you're still figuring it out… you're definitely not alone. 😉

Once the bills are paid and the business expenses are covered, what do you do with whatever is left?

A little splurging won’t hurt, right? 👀

But what if you developed a new habit: “paying yourself to grow first?”

That could mean putting some of those funds back into the business so it can grow and scale.

Or investing them in ways that can help fund the life you’re dreaming about in the future.

The amount doesn’t have to be big. What matters is building the habit and staying consistent.

In this BizBytes clip, Tolu breaks down what it really means to pay yourself as a business owner and why paying yourself doesn’t always mean spending on yourself.

🎬 Watch the Reel, then tell us: Are you paying yourself to grow?

Know a business owner who needs to hear this? Share it with them.

And follow ATBB for more BizBytes from Black business leaders.

Every entrepreneur spends money. The question is:

Are you spending or investing?

The businesses that grow intentionally invest in the tools, education, and relationships that help them move forward.

What’s one investment you made that transformed your business? Let’s know in the comments.
