Sept. 9, 2022 - With a 7-4 vote, Major League Baseball's Competition Committee passed rule changes taking effect next season, including a pitch clock, restrictions on defensive shifts, and larger bases. The Players Association, with four seats on the 11-person committee, voted unanimously against two of the three measures: the ban on the shift and the pitch timer, but approved the increase in the size of the bases from 15 inches square to 18 inches square.

Deuce Alexander made a statement to open the season.

The Ole Miss wide receiver exploded for a career-high 159 receiving yards and two touchdowns on just five catches in the Rebels’ 41-38 win over No. 24 Louisville.

Both touchdowns went for 62 yards, helping Alexander earn SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors after one of the biggest performances of opening weekend.

The expectations are sky-high in Philadelphia.

After reaching the Eastern Conference semifinals last season, the 76ers enter 2026-27 with a completely reloaded roster. Philadelphia added LeBron James and Jaylen Brown to a core featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and rising star VJ Edgecombe, giving the Sixers one of the most star-studded lineups in basketball.

With this much talent in Philly, anything short of a deep playoff run will feel like unfinished business.
