Did you ever wonder what a carrier oil actually is?
Carrier oils are plant-derived oils that I use as the base for many of my botanical and aromatherapy preparations. They also allow me to properly dilute highly concentrated essential oils for topical use.
But choosing one isn’t just about finding something to “carry” the essential oils. Each has its own texture, feel and characteristics, and I choose them based on what I’m making and what I want the finished product to be like.
Fractionated coconut, jojoba, sweet almond, h**p seed and olive are just a few of the ones you’ll find me working with at the apothecary.
It’s one of those little behind-the-scenes choices you may never see, but it’s an important part of every formulation.
