The black sand beaches north of Kaikoura and in the wider Canterbury/Marlborough region are formed by the erosion of dark-colored volcanic rock and iron-rich materials transported to the coast by rivers and coastal currents. These heavy minerals, such as titanomagnetite, originate from eroded, ancient volcanic activity.

A signed contract (or engagement letter) is standard practice for professional personal property appraisers to avoid misunderstandings, ensure compliance with professional standards, and establish a clear professional relationship. It provides written evidence of the agreed-upon terms, protects both the appraiser and client, and defines the scope of work.

Volcano eruption at Fagradalsfjall next to Litli-Hrútur in Iceland in 2023 captured from up close with a drone. Such a shot was only made possible by the use of new technologies, since it is otherwise impossible to safely observe an erupting volcano at such close range. The picture was also captured with Keilir perfectly aligned in the background. The extreme temperature of the lava creates a heat haze that can be seen on the left side of the image, being carried by the wind.

An art appraiser and a buyer should never be the same person because it creates a fundamental conflict of interest. Professional appraisal ethics, such as those established by USPAP, dictate that an appraiser must remain impartial, objective, and independent, which is impossible if they have a personal financial stake in purchasing the item.

The short-beaked echidna, also known as the common echidna, or short-nosed echidna, is one of four living species of echidna, and the only member of the genus Tachyglossus, from Ancient Greek ταχύς, meaning "fast", and γλῶσσα, meaning "tongue". These little cuties are members of the monotreme family, being one of five living species of mammals that lay eggs.

Wilson's bird-of-paradise (Diphyllodes respublica) is a species of passerine bird of the family Paradisaeidae. The family has 44 species in 17 genera, which are known for the stunning plumage of the males of the species, as most are sexually dimorphic. The first footage of the Wilson's bird-of-paradise ever to be filmed was recorded in 1996 by David Attenborough for the BBC documentary Attenborough in Paradise. Unfortunately a number of species, including Wilson's, are threatened by hunting and habitat loss.
