Have you ever seen those Carlos Bakery vending machines or discovered one of the Pizza Cake locations? We did and thought we would see how fresh these slices of cake really are. Considering it was in a factory-sealed container, we were leery, but even more so when we opened it two months later, and it looked like it did the day we paid way too much for it. We can't imagine the amount of chemicals in this!

Is it possible that was almost six months ago? Every year that I attend, I seem to come back with so many new ideas and potential clients that it is overwhelming—a great problem to have.

You never know who you will run into, either. This year, I was so excited to reconnect with Sue Bailey, who is now with , which has a broad catalog of kitchen and appliance innovations. It was great to see Middleby and Sue back on the show floor at KBIS, and their booth was so busy that it was hard to take in everything they had to offer. Sue is one of the best trainers that I know, and she understands the intricacies of kitchen design. She can help me immediately know how to use something without reading the manual - a great time and frustration saver.

Now that we have both had a chance to catch up, I'm looking forward to having her share the new technology that Middleby is bringing to consumer and commercial kitchens; I know there's going to be a lot of great information to share soon! Thank you to Lisa Stewart for these beautiful images!

Trending: More vibrant, saturated colors in monochromatic spaces. Lifestyling off-site construction can be challenging because the interior colors tend to be very neutral, making homes look alike when customers tour them. A great tip for consumers and builders is to add color to your artwork and decor items to add that "pop of color" and lifestyle to your home. Those items are easy to change when your mood changes and can be purchased at your favorite design studio or online. This is from the market two years ago but is on-trend today.
