Regular customers, get ready to look around the next time you visit. Rearranging has begun! Clothes racks have been shuffled. Tables have been moved. Not finished yet, but we know that soon we will need room for winter jackets, coats, boots, etc! We have work to do!

The Shop is small, so have fun looking all around!

Donations this week were lovely, including some very cute lady’s swimsuits 🩱

Here are a few pics:

Hoping the rain stops soon & gives our building/grounds & all of our VC friends with basements or low-lying properties a break!

Lots of nice donations in the last week or so. Some Cricut cartridges & tools. Some very nice men’s clothes, including some in The Alcove. Quite a few purses in the 2 display areas at the register, on the shelves & scattered around the store.

Please, come purchase some summer dresses! Only 7 more shop days until they are purged 😞

The Shop does not offer holds or presales. If there is an urgent question, send by PM. Or come in to the shop & talk to us!

HOURS & LOCATION are on FB cover photo

The Shop was located in the area of Danville where 4-5 inches of rain fell hard & fast early this afternoon. Due to cleanup, we had to close the shop early. We are sorry to anyone who came after the gushing stopped.
The Shop is ready to be open regular hours tomorrow!
(Sunday, 12-4)

The high bidders on the vintage Disney Cookie Jars have been notified! Many thanks to everyone who showed interest. Donald Duck’s jar only received 1 bid 😞 & they decided to decline, so that cookie jar will be in the shop for purchase. Hope the other two jars will be awesome additions to their new homes!

Tomorrow will bring back our $5 bags for general clothing. There is still a nice selection of summer, but some very nice new lightweight fall pieces are out, too!

A few summer dresses are highlighted in the pictures because there are SO MANY CUTE ONES still available! All those pictured can be 1 piece of clothing in that $5 bag! Value that can not be beat.

Unable to answer questions about individual items.

DONATIONS - only SUMMER clothing still! The shop always accepts housewares, shoes, accessories, etc.

HOLD ONTO ANY HOLIDAY ITEMS until after Sept 1st. Even today in the midst of the downpour, we received donations for Christmas, Halloween & Thanksgiving. :(

Don’t like being negative, but this can answer some questions a donor may have. Our shop agrees with all of the items noted except sneakers.

Specifically, for the Humane Society of Danville’s Second Chance Thrift Shop, because it is small, we would add a few things to avoid:

In addition to no encyclopedias, we add no thesaurus(es), no dictionaries, no atlases or paper maps & for sure, no textbooks of any kind, no magazines or calendars, no loose greeting cards.

Only baskets of good quality & clean

Our shop does take used sneakers, unlike the article, but if not clean & in decent condition, they are given away.

Our shop is limiting toys & stuffed animals. Space is a huge factor. Toys & stuffed animals can carry germs & are challenging to clean. Even children playing with them here in the store could be risky. Toys with small pieces are not kept unless the pieces come in sorted, bagged & labelled. No large toys at all.
We do accept puzzles & board games (please, no missing pieces).

Lamps, small appliances etc are welcome, but we receive quite a few that are not working. By the time we clean them up, insert bulb(s) or batteries & find out they don’t work, we’ve wasted a lot of our time

Respectfully presented.

You have the best intentions, but just because you don't want these things anymore doesn't necessarily mean they should be donated to the thrift store. Find out what items thrift stores don't want or need.
