We lost a good one last night. Rest in peace, my dear, dear friend. 🩷

Last May, when our deal to purchase Soleil Toile from Marilyn and Stacy went south because their Landlord decided to sell the building, I made one phone call - to my good friend and fellow real estate broker, Sharon Maddern. We had known each other for almost 20 years - Sharon dominating the Westport retail leasing landscape (many of the retailers that are in Westport are there because of Sharon.) I said, “I need your help. I have a team, my vendors, no time and no home.” I could’ve figured it out myself, but I needed her expertise and more importantly a true friend’s ear. By luck, Fig, the linen store was closing the next week with the owner’s move to Florida and she quickly worked out a deal for us.

Sharon was a mentor, a friend and a shoulder to cry on over nearly 20 years of friendship. In the male-dominated commercial real estate industry, it’s difficult to find other women - much less competitive women who can cheer each other on and celebrate each other’s wins. We helped each other frequently in this arena and in the early stages of LaSource she gave me honest feedback - with grace and good intention. She helped me personally - giving me priceless perspectives during some of my most difficult times including my separation from my husband in 2020 - yes, we reconciled and are happily married - partly because of my many talks with her about her own experience. She was always older and wiser.

Sharon, I love you and will miss you tremendously. You will always be one of a kind. 🩷🩷🩷

New season, new un**es.

It goes without saying that we should be refreshing our underwear drawers on the regular. Bra lifespan = 6-12 months. Underwear lifespan - 6-12 months. Really.

To preserve lifespan, here are some care tips:

- Wash gently with Soak or another delicates detergent. Soak | Modern Laundry Care

Hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat, raking into consideration that heat destroys elastic, so be delicate.

Many lingerie industry experts pick a day for “wash day” and they wash all lingerie in the sink that day which makes the task so much easier and starts you fresh for the week ahead.

Final note, we’re all guilty forgetting to care for number 1. Take five minutes to toss worn garments and come see us to replenish!
