The concept of "the folly" is highly ambiguous and it has been suggested that the definition of a folly "lies in the eyes of the beholder". This concept nicely complements what I have been saying to people who’ve asked what kind of item I’ll be carrying in my shop -- “I’ll know it when I see it”! During the summer and fall months I’ve traveled New England to find many one-of-a-kind items that wil

l add to “the life” of your garden. Jardinieres, fountains, armillaries and troughs, old and new, will appear in the shop over the coming months. I encourage you to stop in often to visit and to discover the changing design elements that will add a touch of whimsy or focus to your home or garden. Your visits will add to what I have discovered is the best part of my little venture -- meeting interesting people attuned to the fine and simple pleasures that can be derived from a folly, of any size or value. Simply put, a folly exists for no other purpose than to please the eye – it exists for the sheer beauty of it!
