A question we get frequently is “How long after the shot can we find your trophy”?

Here is a quick explanation of what happens and the
Thermal Stages Over Time after expiration

O to 24 Hours: The deer retains its true body heat. This creates the strongest and easiest to spot thermal signal.

24 to 48 Hours: Original body heat begins tofades. The temperature difference between the ground and deer becomes harder to differentiate.

48 hours and Beyond: True body heat is gone. However, internal decomposition generates bacterial heat, and radiation can heat the dark hide, making the carcass visible again.

Time is of the essence when it comes to giving us a call. If you didn’t see the deer drop, waited some time and went to track but couldn’t find anything or lost the trail.
Back-out and give us a call, remember pushing a wounded animal could push it to someone else’s property and make it harder to recover.
