Something to Ponder … April 12, 2026
If you’ve been wondering why you haven’t heard much lately about improvements at HomeGrown, it is because there haven’t been any improvements made lately at HomeGrown. And why would that be, I hear you ask.
In part, we’ve been waiting for warm weather so the exterior painting can be done. In reality, and I hate to admit it, I’ve run out of money. So everything is on hold.
Some of my clergy colleagues have encouraged me to create my punch list and put it out there … with the hope that some of you may be interested in contributing to the final start-up costs of this new birth God has put into motion.
Why is it so hard for me to accept gifts of money? I seem to have no problem receiving gifts of time, talents, or expertise! So here goes:
•Exterior Painting of HomeGrown’s three stories, includes beautifying porch foundation … $17,000
•Concrete Work – remove and replace unsafe sidewalk and approach to front entrance of HomeGrown … $15,000
•Three Ceiling Fans for the porch – for cool breezes and to help keep away bugs … $1,800 ($600 each)
•Porch Lighting – at the front door … $400
•Landscaping – fill holes in the yard, finish sloping along Linden Avenue, reseed in areas … $1,200
•Three Outside Faucets – for watering outdoor plants, flowers, trees, grass … $500
•Mop Sink – so HomeGrown can be licensed to carry pre-made sandwiches … $600
•Upright Freezer – storage for more frozen fruit … $500
•Soft-Serve Ice Cream Machine – for the young-at-heart … $2,000
Thank you, God, for all the offers and gifts of assistance that have helped HomeGrown get to where it is today. Lots of labor. Lots of laughter. Lots of love. Trusting you, God, with this last push. In the name of Jesus, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, may it be so.
Grace and peace … --Pastor Pat
