Meet baby #4 👶📦 — okay not actually a baby, it’s our first real UPC code, but the emotional rollercoaster was basically the same 😅

This weekend hit different. Every tiny decision — the ones that kept me up stressing over packaging, labels, code placement — is finally clicking into something bigger. We’re one step closer to being shelf-ready for more stores, which means we can actually scale this thing.

Taking risks when you’re 95% winging it is terrifying... but also kind of the whole game? You can’t tell though, right? 😉

A quick re-intro and a peek into the last 3 days at Chalk It Up… we set a low, mid, and high goal for what we hoped to make, and we were blown away when we hit our highest 3-day earnings ever.

But even better than the numbers? The experience was magical. Three things I learned:

1. I can’t do this without community. Sacramento, you showed up and put your money where your mouth is, supporting your neighbors through small business. And to my fellow vendors — your tenacity always inspires me. Shoutout to Tianna Ching KC Kombucha Sacramento ®️ Michelle Ngo 🎨📚☕️ Betsy's Burnt Offerings
2. We will never stop hustling. After 20 years pouring myself into draining, thankless nonprofit work, I’m finally living my dream of building something that’s mine, and I will do whatever it takes to keep it going.
3. Mom guilt is real. Since starting this business, I never wanted my kids to feel like they came second to it. As they’ve gotten older, they’ve become part of it — whether they asked for that or not. But they’ve embraced working in a family business, and the compliments they get, how kind they are, and the joy on their faces at our end-of-market celebration meal tells me we’re doing something right.

I’m so grateful to everyone who bought from us this weekend and keeps coming back. I get messages every week from customers cheering us on, giving us a place to exist in this tough industry.

We’ll keep working hard to bring you products you can be proud of — because we feel exactly the same way about everything we make.
