I started formally studying herbal medicine when I was pregnant with my first son. I wanted to learn alternative ways to treat childhood illnesses, to learn the art and science of home herbal care. I have been studying ever since, Mother Earth has so much to offer us that an herbalist is never done learning! My skin care line was born out of a need for truly all natural, organic, chemical free tar

geted skin care. There are three lines tailored to your special skin type. Wisdom is for dry/mature skin types. Wisdom employs the rich, rejuvenating properties of avocado, rose hip, and pomegranate oils among other restorative ingredients. Honesty was created for oily/acne prone skin. Using oils that are most like your skin's natural sebum, Honesty moisturizes and heals without causing further breakouts. Honesty employs the antibacterial powers of tea tree and patchouli essential oils to treat the root cause of acne. Intuition was formulated for sensitive skin. Tamanu oil, chamomile, and lavender soothe and heal inflamed skin. I created this line out of my own need for products that wouldn't irritate my super sensitive skin. The Pearly Everlasting skin care regimen begins with the Oh, Honey! facial cleanser. This honey based cleanser is made with local honey and is formulated for all skin types. The next step in the regimen is the apple cider vinegar based toner. Apple cider vinegar restores the natural pH of your skin. This step is incredibly important in the health and healing ability of your skin. Oil based serums are used for moisturizing and replenishing. The serums are very effective in treating the different complaints associated with each individual skin type. There are masks for deep cleaning and detoxifying. Each mask is specially formulated to meet the needs of each skin type. Ingredients like rice bran powder and lavender not only nourish, but deep clean to reveal bright, radiant skin. The mask can be combined with water, herbal tea, mashed fruit or honey to create a more tailored experience. The final and favorite step in the regimen is exfoliation. I have created a scrub for all skin types, but especially suited for folks with rosacea or sensitive skin. It blends beautifully with the Oh, Honey! The Revelation scrub can be used 3-4 times a week, and can also be used as a mask. Poultices are an ancient modality for applying herbs for healing. A poultice can be as simple as chewing up a fresh plant in your mouth and directly applying it to a wound or a bug bite. The poultice you see here is made with powdered comfrey leaves, hydrated with hot (not boiling) water and then folded inside a thin piece of fabric to be applied to the skin. In this case the skin over a broken jaw.

Tonight the Harvest Moon rises - named for the Full Moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox. This is the last full moon of summer, and falls in the sign of Pisces. We may feel emotional depths balanced by the practical intuition of today’s Virgo Sun. Many Moongazers across North America will find a red-orange hue cast upon the rising Harvest Moon due to the atmospheric density near the horizon. It gives us pause to reflect on the treasures we have been given on this planet and consider how we are stewarding them as individuals and as a collective. The Full Moon is Pisces is a potent time to reflect on the lessons and personal growth we’ve experienced since Summer Solstice and to let go of beliefs, habits, relationships and possessions no longer serving us to make room for the physical and metaphorical harvest of Autumn.
