The new regulator installed at Westminster Presbyterian now has wind. If you recall from one of our previous posts, there was once a massive 2’ square by 6’ long wooden manifold once installed in this area with many PVC lines running off it. We removed all of that, fabricated and soldered a new static wind-line (shown in black), and installed a new regulator to greatly streamline the wind system for the few ranks this goes to. This freed up some space in the chamber, improved access, and reduced air leaks.

Climbing to new heights! The new ladder we built for Westminster Presbyterian has been installed which allows us to access the swell division and the level below it. Previously, to get to the swell, one needed to climb up a ladder on the far right of the chamber cross over a few reeds, then climb the ladder that ends mid air (about 10-12’ above the floor of the chamber!!). This new ladder goes floor to ceiling making routine service and tuning much easier.

We just finished restoration on this wind regulator to prepare it for installation at Westminster Presbyterian. This wind regulator was originally constructed in 1929, and, after a complete releathering, refinishing, and installation of a new curtain valve, looks and functions like new! This regulator will replace three smaller ones and reduce a lot of extra piping taking up space in the organ chamber.

It’s always exciting when we get calls from new clients. Today we tuned the splendid 3 manual 1952 M. P. Moller organ at First Presbyterian Church in Middletown. Shortly before Christmas, the organ became unplayable due to issues with the control circuitry. Several church members spent a few days chasing and repairing the circuits and were able to get the organ back into fully playable condition! We were then called to give it a thorough tuning. The organ now sounds better than ever! You can hear it by visiting in person or tuning into their livestream on their website: https://www.fpcmiddletown.com/virtual-worship

The organ has a diverse tonal palette of 66 ranks and sounds magnificent in the space. I hope that you can join us for the recital!
