Fall can be one of my favorite times to grow vegetables because so many crops actually prefer cooler weather 🥕🍂 A few things I keep in mind:
🥬 Spinach, lettuce, and kale usually appreciate the break from intense summer heat and can taste even better in cool conditions.
🥕 Carrots, radishes, beets, and turnips are great options when there’s enough growing time left before winter really settles in.
🥦 Broccoli and cabbage enjoy cool weather too, but I usually give them a head start because they take longer than quick crops like radishes.
🌱 Green onions are handy for filling little gaps, and I can start harvesting them before they reach full size.
📅 The biggest thing is timing everything backward from the first expected hard freeze, fall arrives very differently depending on where you garden.
A little planning now can keep fresh vegetables coming long after the summer garden starts winding down 🧺
