song "Follow the Drinking Gourd," a traditional slave song. The lyrics served as a map to freedom via the Underground Railroad. The Drinking Gourd is a star constellation, also known as the Big Dipper, which points to the North Star. The North Star, served as a directional compass, and "Follow the Drinking Gourd" served as a road map, pointing out landmarks, which slaves used to navigate their way to the free states in the north. In 1996 The Drinking Gourd won the Mesa Boogie Spirit of Art in Technology Award, which recognizes exceptional brand representation and customer service.
