Record of the day: Incantation “Onward To Golgotha” LP.

Despite loving harsh noise, black metal, thrash, and other forms of extreme sound, I did not like death metal for the longest time. This record was the one that changed that for me. So much so that I find a lot of death metal pales in comparison to this record.

Although I’m not a practicing satanist or follow the teachings of Satan, the teenager in me that hated going to church every Sunday sees the theme of this album and hears the lyrics and thinks “that’s fu***ng cool”. A lot of people describe death metal as “crushing” but this album actually embodies that idea sincerely.

This is a new reissue and $23.

Record of the day: Gershon Kingsley “Music To Moog By” LP.

Like pretty much all of the early electronic music novelty records, this one rules too. It’s interesting to think how they took the synthesizer, a new instrument that functioned and sounded unlike almost any other instrument previously, and then proceeded to play recognizable pop songs with it. In a way, it’s a huge waste to take a modular synth that is capable of producing an incredibly wide palette of sounds and just play trite songs with it. On the other hand, it adds a new spin to songs we’ve all heard over and over again, so it’s refreshing and fun in its own way. I imagine at the time it probably made it easier for audiences to digest the sounds of a synth if they heard popular songs through it. Bonus points for the wild cover art (p.s. be sure to zoom in!).

This copy is Strong VG with a VG jacket and $14.

Skeleton Dust Records and Pink Moon Goods are back with two new art openings this coming Thursday, September 10th 2026!

We are excited to present the visual art of Dayton artists Liberty Lord (at Skeleton Dust) and Devin Gray (at Pink Moon Goods) on Thursday, September 10th from 6-8 PM.

DJs Generik and Vira-Lata will be spinning tunes for a nice lil’ sound accompaniment to the visual art which you may feast your eyes upon.

See ya on Thursday, September 10th for the coolest little art crawl that east Dayton has to offer.

Record of the day: Niellerade Fallibilisthorstar “Hålrum” LP.

Really cool record of desolate, sparse industrial clanging from this now-defunct Swedish group. To me, this record embodies the true spirit of industrial music. It literally sounds like walking around inside an empty factory while wind causes rusted remnants of a bygone manufacturing era to creak, scrape, and lightly bang. This is not a heavy record at all, but mostly soft and delicate-sounding, as much as sounds of this tonality can be I suppose. One of my favorites and highly recommended.

Take it home a whopping $6!
