🌊 The waves of womanhood
(Written by this non poet navigating life as a woman in her 40s)
padding the shoreline
some spots firm and solid supporting my foot with ease
others soft and squishy letting my toes plunge into its depth
little stream running through the shore, slicing the peaceful rhythm with bumpy rocks and muck
beauty in the interruption and glimmers amongst the obstacles
the shore a lifetime
adapting and shifting to wherever the energy goes
every moment, hour, day, season
the lines the wave leaves behind
like the marks that stretch across my thighs, womb and buttocks.
for every wave that dared to crash or even whisper to the sand an etching remained
marking the works of mother earth with every breath
the pristine shore would wash out leaving behind the stories we tell
and the ones we let wash away
