💡Lately, it feels like everyone wants to own a food truck or start a food business.

From the outside, I get it. It looks fun, easy…and it definitely looks like quick money.

😂Wrong.

I work more now than I ever have before and most days, for less money.

The difference is, I genuinely love this.

🌖 I enjoy the late nights. I want the feedback, even when it stings. I like trying something new, completely messing it up, figuring out what went wrong, and then mastering it. I love watching an idea in my head turn into something people actually come back and enjoy. When I start seeing other people use ideas similar to mine? I don’t always look at it negatively. Sometimes that’s confirmation that I must be doing something right.

🤑The money isn’t what gets you through the long nights, mistakes, slow events, food costs, prep, cleanup, permits, breakdowns, and everything else people don’t see.

You have to love what you’re doing enough to keep doing it when it isn’t fun or profitable.

🔥At the end of the day, I’d rather be exhausted doing something I love than comfortable doing something I don’t.

🐷We love trying other food trucks, we came across another BBQ truck, so we stopped!

🤔 It got me thinking about something we hear pretty often: “That much $ for bread and meat?” or watch people see our prices and keep walking. Here’s a side-by-side of two BBQ businesses. We’re not comparing flavor, just price, portion.

⬅️Left picture- $16
Brisket melt: Toasted Texas toast, shredded cheese, brisket pulled from the fridge and warmed on the griddle, with a slice of Gouda placed on top(moved for the picture). I added the BBQ sauce. Lil shy with the meat. $16 with or without the cheese.

➡️Right picture- $15
Chopped Brisket Sandwich. Brisket pulled off the smoker the morning of the event, and we’re not shy with the meat

🤷🏽I know $15 still isn’t cheap, but neither is brisket or the time that goes into doing it right.

🔥🔥We don’t aim to be the cheapest. We want you to feel like you got what you paid for.

There seems to me a HUGE misunderstanding- I hate writing posts like this…. but let’s get this out of the way before church ⛪️

We love giving back to our community, and we’re going to continue doing it whenever we can. I think sometimes because we give so much, people assume we have endless amounts of time and money …..to give.
😭We don’t.
😅Like……at all.

💪🏻 We’re a small business trying to grow. We don’t have a food trailer. We don’t have employees. We don’t even pay ourselves. We still work our regular jobs, family babysits so we can do events, buy ingredients, pay kitchen fees, vendor fees, insurance, supplies, the list goes on.

🤗We try to keep our prices fair AND still find ways to donate food, give gift certificates, sponsor things, help with fundraisers and give back to the community that supports us.

🫠But there comes a point where it becomes too much.

❗️Being generous doesn’t mean we can say yes to every donation, fundraiser, sponsorship or request that comes our way. Sometimes we have to say no. Not because we don’t care, but because we have to make sure we can keep going too!! & that’s the biggest thing: the larger we grow, the more we CAN give

🧡We absolutely love giving back. We just don’t have an endless amount to give.
