Classic Minerva #1 Mine Fluorite – Vivid Yellow Core with Sharp Purple Phantoms

A classic, "old stock" fluorite specimen from the legendary Minerva No. 1 Mine in Cave-in-Rock, Illinois. Since this mine closed in 1996, specimens with this iconic color combination have become increasingly difficult to find.

Locality: Minerva No. 1 Mine, Hardin County, Illinois, USA.

This piece features a rich, honey-yellow core perfectly framed by a sharp, violet-purple outer phantom. The contrast is exceptional under direct light.

Highly lustrous, glassy cubic faces that catch the light beautifully.

This is an authentic, as-mined specimen. It shows some minor edge wear and micro-cleavage typical of historical Illinois material, but the internal clarity and zoning remain the star of the show.

These minerals formed roughly 100 to 250 million years ago through hydrothermal activity.
