So the journey began.....My business began at my last stages of graduate school, when I was beginning to see a new vision for myself. I became part of the Uhuru Movement and began connecting with the Afrikan entrepreneurial spirit of many sisters in that movement (BIG UP to Hekima, Atallah and Ayanna). I began to dibble and dab in my own creations including crocheting, jewelry-making, sewing, kn
itting and natural body product making. In 2000, I began working with local cultural stores and natural hair salons as well as small local festivals to get my works out. Eventually, once I completed my graduate work, I decided to go out on a limb and test this thing out full-time. I branched out and began traveling to major cultural and arts festival across the nation and opened a cultural shop in Decatur, GA in 2003. I eventually had to close the store due to several break-ins but I continued with festivals and opened an online culture store that same year, '03, offering headwraps exclusively. After several years on the road, my client base increased as many became aware of an incredibly large variety of handmade headwraps that I offer (my Baby for real!).
