Several countries have formally intervened in South Africa’s ICJ case against Isr*el as proceedings continue. ⚖️🌍

South Africa brought the case before the International Court of Justice in December 2023 under the Genocide Convention. Mexico, Spain and Ireland are among the states that have filed declarations of intervention, alongside several others. The case remains ongoing, and the ICJ has issued provisional measures but has not yet delivered a final judgment on South Africa’s central allegations.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez confirmed that Spain formally recognizes the State of Palestine, joining more than 140 countries that already take this step.
