Flies & Lies weekly report 5-21-26

Flows have been all over the place lately, but the fishing has remained quite good throughout both Deckers and Cheesman Canyon.
We’ve see some solid Blue Winged Olive hatches, especially on the colder, cloudy, “crappy” weather days. You can find rising fish during the afternoon, particularly in softer seams, tailouts, and slower riffles. BWO hatches have been best in the canyon and upstream from our shop. Warmer afternoons have also brought a mix of caddis activity depending on the section of river.
As always, you can catch fish on nymphs all day. Baetis, caddis, scud, worm and midge patterns have all been producing. Make sure to adjust your weight often and don’t be afraid to move around until you find fish, there's a lot of fishy water out there right now! Also worth mentioning that dry dropper fishing can be really fun in the afternoon, fish a small hopper or stimulator on top, trailed by a BH Caddis nymph and hold on tight!
