This was a fun interview and we discussed a lot more than what made it into the final article. It’s always good talking about what goes into designing custom aquariums with people who aren’t in the hobby or industry, but have an interest. Today is the day! Our plant order arrives at the store shortly and it is packed with some awesome aquarium plants, terrarium plants, and vivarium plants. Technically we also have paludarium plants too, because it’s the same stuff. A lot of new plant strains in this order and everything from easy to high tech plants available! If you want to add some serious color to your display, this plant shipment definitely delivers! Terrestrial and aquatic mosses available. We’ll also be keeping some plants for grow out in our systems so we’ll have both aquatic and terrestrial versions available moving forward.

Apistogramma Hongsloi and Golden Eye Cichlids (Nannacara anomala) are finally back in the store after a long hiatus! Some of the best looking dwarf cichlids around and they don’t come around often. We also have another first time Apisto species available, but you’ll have to see that one for yourself. Other new species in store as well and more updates later.

We have new fish arriving tomorrow! More new species and some returning favorites. Next week we have our largest plant order ever arriving at the store! Tons of new strains and species. Lots of hard to find Anubias, swords, stem plants, mosses, etc. We have some really stunning vivarium and terrarium plants arriving with this order! New hard to find floaters are coming in too. We went a little wild on this one and some of the plants are very limited numbers, so first come first served!

This week’s order is arriving at the store shortly!

On a side note, we get asked a lot about plant issues and proper planted tank parameters. Here’s a cheat sheet we made for ideal levels with the more important elements at the top in descending order to the bottom. This should help you understand what’s going on in your planted aquarium and how best to get the results you’re looking for. The explanation is a brief overview for each element so we could fit it in the image. There is way more info available and we’ll do an individual breakdown of these parameters (and maybe make an album) so you have a quick detailed reference of each. We see a lot of easily remedied issues and hopefully this helps you avoid them going forward.

We have an order arriving Thursday with new fish and some plants! Some very cool new species and some strains of plants we have not received before. A few rarities in the mix for this one.

This feels like way more than 10 years ago. A few conference calls with lawyers and governmental organizations to get these Cubans legalized. One of the craziest parts of this was when I briefly had a roughly 75gal system at my house with about 40-50 DeJongi Basslets hanging out waiting for more permanent housing. A few people got to see that tank and some non aquarists had no idea how special that was!

We should have some big updates on some current projects and expansion soon. We’re making progress daily!
