This spring, Shaala and Tom Sherman, owners of Class VI, and their daughters received devastating news: Shaala had been diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor. In the months that followed, their family faced the unimaginable, ultimately losing a beloved wife, mother, teacher, and friend.

Every year, Shaala organized Sherman’s Closet, a winter clothing drive providing cold-weather essentials to students at Kishwaukee Educational Consortium (KEC). This year, we’re coming together to make sure her tradition continues.

From today through November 6, we’re collecting socks, shoes, boots, hats, gloves, jackets, scarves, cowls, sweaters, hoodies, hand warmers, and other cold-weather essentials.

Donations can be dropped off at our location or at one of the many participating businesses throughout DeKalb and Sycamore. Everything collected will ultimately be brought to Class VI, where it will be sorted and prepared for KEC students.

The Sherman family has spent years showing up for this community. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.

Let’s fill Sherman’s Closet and show Tom, his daughters, and everyone who loved Shaala just how much this community cares.
