Safety starts before the first paddle hits the water. 🛶

Whether we’re launching a family of four or a group of 100+, every trip begins with a thorough safety briefing. We cover what to expect on the river and stay safe, how to work together as a team, paddling techniques, leave no trace ethics, and what to do if the unexpected happens.

Most importantly, everyone wears a properly fitted life jacket—from launch to takeout. It’s the single most important piece of safety equipment on the river, and it helps ensure everyone can relax and enjoy the adventure with confidence.

A little preparation goes a long way toward creating a fun, safe, and memorable day on the water. Here’s to great teamwork, great memories, and getting everyone home safely! With the high water, Mandatory Life Jacket use is in effect until further notice from not just us, but the NPS as well. 💙

Due to flooded river conditions and an incredibly fast cfs of nearly 30,000 ft3/S (most of the summer it has barely been above 2,500 ft3/S!), we are closing for all river trips today, July 30th. It’s cresting now and will very quickly drop back down to more normal levels and should make for beautiful rafting and boating conditions this weekend. We will be open again tomorrow and ready for another great river weekend!

Today our new sign went up to replace the faded one from when moved Edge of the Woods Outfitters to this location years ago.

We already knew the old Water Gap Trolley sign was tucked safely underneath, but uncovering it still brought on a flood of nostalgia and was a great reminder of the incredible history of this place. Seeing it so perfectly preserved connected us once again to the generations who came before us and the many memories made here in the Delaware Water Gap.

As we look ahead, we’re grateful to be a small part of this location’s story—building on a legacy that’s been welcoming visitors for generations.

Here’s to honoring the past while creating new adventures for years to come. ❤️

Storms have knocked out our power, we will be closed for the rest of the day and be back at first thing tomorrow morning for a beautiful Sunday on the Delaware.

Their smiles, patience, and dedication keep thousands of guests enjoying the Delaware River with confidence all season long. Sometimes the best wildlife photographers are our guests! 📸🦅

A big thank you to one of our guests for capturing these incredible photos of one of the many bald eagles that call our park home.

We’re fortunate to have numerous nesting pairs of bald eagles along the river, and it’s not uncommon to spot these majestic birds soaring overhead, perched in the treetops, or hunting along the river. Their continued presence is a great sign of a healthy river ecosystem—and one of the many reasons we love sharing this special place with you.

Keep your eyes on the sky during your next visit… you never know what you’ll see!

This week’s rain gave the river a fresh boost, and everything is looking lush with vibrant shades of green. Conditions are shaping up beautifully—so grab your friends and family, get outside, and enjoy it. See you on the water!

If you have interest in the indigenous people of the Poconos and how they lived on the land, please join us for our Stoneage in the Poconos Program at Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters (2138 Croasdale Road, Stroudsburg, PA 18360) on Saturday June 27th from 2-4PM. Russ Cramer will take you on a tour of the last 10,000 years of human habitation of our area through discussion, exhibits, displays, and hands-on interactive learning. The presentation will be followed with an interactive flintknapping demonstration by Rich Poirier to show how tools are crafted from stone. The event is geared toward adults, but children (generally children ages 10 and above) that don't mind being seated in a chair for 30-45 minutes at a time during a hands-on interactive presentation with demonstrations of tools and artifacts will enjoy the program.
