Work is looking a little different these days… 🙂

Since our son arrived four months ago, I’ve been mostly off of social media. Maybe you noticed, maybe you didn’t. More and more of life seems to be happening off of the internet these days, something for which I am grateful. But I wanted to check in with a quick update on my work in the bindery.

I am currently taking on a very limited number of clients for bookbinding and repair work, just one or two a month as I can. If you would like to join the waitlist, you are more than welcome to head to griffeysbookemporium.com/contact and send us an email.

We do not have any pop-ups scheduled for this year yet, as a lot of our free time is currently being eaten up by preparing to move to a new house (still right here in Delaware!) but we are hoping to do a few later in the year, so keep an eye out! A lot of grand plans went out the window with the arrival of a sweet little boy who does not sleep so well, but we’re still plodding along.

I hope to post more about my bookbinding as I get back into the studio, but I will not be as active on social media going forward, as it has been a huge boon to my productivity and mental health the past few months. With a toddler and a baby, every free minute counts! So I will check in here periodically, but the best way to reach me directly is via email at the contact form above.

So excited for our FINAL pop-up of the year in just a couple of weeks: Boozy Book Fair at The Oak & Brazen W**e Co. right here in Downtown Delaware. Join us and an amazing lineup of bookish vendors on October 23rd from 5pm-8pm and enjoy a "grown-up" twist on the Scholastic book fairs of your childhood.

Congratulations to the new owner of Pan Yan Bookstore in Tiffin, OH! Also… in case you were wondering where our beloved blue chair ended up… 👀

Pan Yan Bookstore in Downtown Tiffin has announced a change in ownership. Founder and owner Judy Dezse, who opened the store in September 2022, has transitioned ownership to Penelope Logsdon, a Heidelberg University graduate and native of Medina County.

Pan Yan Bookstore continues to offer a wide selection of new and used books, unique knick-knacks, and engaging community events. The store hosts monthly book clubs, Write Night, Fiber Club, and multiple author events throughout the year.

Penelope, who has served as Store Manager since 2023, plans to expand the store’s impact by introducing monthly craft workshops, new bookish events, and a mobile bookstore filled with rotating genres to reach surrounding communities.

Hello everyone, it’s been a little while 👋

I wanted to pop in and give a little explanation/update for what’s going on with Griffeys’ right now. As many of you know, our new baby is due in late November of this year! We are very excited for his arrival, but in the meantime I have been dealing with some health issues due to/exacerbated by the pregnancy, meaning I haven’t been able to do as much with the business as we had planned on. Don’t worry, it’s nothing serious for me or baby! I just haven’t had the energy I’d been counting on these past few months 🙈

Thankfully, I have great midwives and medical professionals who are looking out for me and I will be focusing even more on good nutrition, rest, and recovery going forward 💪 In the meantime, here’s what that means for Griffeys’ through the rest of this year:

📕 I will not be taking on any new bookbinding or repair clients until 2026. If you are on the waiting list, I will be sending out an email regarding this pretty soon. I love doing client work and can’t wait to get back to it soon, but it’s just not feasible for me right now due to my health.

🛍️ Our FINAL market of the year will be the Boozy Book Fair at The Oak & Brazen W**e Co. on October 23rd! We are super excited for this event, and we hope you will come see us there.

🗓️ We are hoping and planning to do a lot more with the business in 2026! We have tons of great ideas that we can’t wait to share with you all. In the meantime, please bear with us during this period of transition (which honestly has been this entire year at this point 😅) and thank you as always for your kindness and support 📚

Our next pop-up will be at Kilbourne’s Harvest Festival, hosted by Sticky Fingers Ice Cream Parlor! Besides an amazing maker’s market, there will also be a costume contest, face painting, live music, and more. We hope to see you there 🤗

Happy Labor Day! Today marks the third anniversary of the Griffeys’ Book Emporium Grand Opening 📖

Even though our retail store is no longer open, we are so happy with the direction we are headed, both as a business, and as a family. We look forward to continuing to serve the community and our loyal customers for a long time to come.
